HSTS Taekwon-Do is the longest-running ITF Taekwon-Do club in Hitchin and Hertfordshire, proudly serving the community since 1987. Under the expert guidance of Master Horan 8th Dan, who took over leadership in 1990, our club has grown from strength to strength — now delivering over 34 classes weekly across Hitchin, Stevenage, and Barton-Le-Clay.

We welcome students of all ages and abilities, from complete beginners to experienced martial artists. Our family-friendly classes are open to children (ages 4+), teens, and adults up to 60+, making Taekwon-Do accessible to everyone.

Our Mission

At HSTS, we’re passionate about teaching authentic Taekwon-Do as both a martial art and a tool for personal development. We aim to inspire discipline, confidence, courtesy, and resilience through high-quality, structured instruction — in a fun, safe, and inclusive environment.

We believe Taekwon-Do is more than just self-defence. It’s a life-changing journey that enhances mental strength, physical fitness, and emotional wellbeing at every age.

Leadership by Master Horan (8th Dan)

Our club is led by Master Glenn Horan with over 40 years of experience, Master Horan has trained with many Instructors, Masters & Grandmasters but directly under:

• Grandmaster Bhupinder Sahota who was Master Horan’s first Instructor from 1985-2003.

• General Choi Hong Hi, the founder of Taekwon-Do, numerous IIC’s

• Grandmaster Choi Jung Hwa, ITF President

• Grandmaster Trevor Nicholls, with whom he has assisted in seminars globally and has trained with and still trains on a weekly basis since 2004.

Master Horan ensures that every student learns true ITF Taekwon-Do techniques, without compromise.

Tailored Classes for Every Age Group

We offer age-specific classes to maximise learning and progress in a structured, respectful environment:

• Little Dragons (Ages 4–7) – Focus on life skills, safety, and fun fitness

• Cadets (Ages 8–12) – Confidence, respect, focus, and foundations of Taekwon-Do

• Adults & Teens   – Traditional Taekwon-Do, self-defence, and fitness training

• Ladies Only Class (Hitchin) – A safe, supportive space for women to start martial arts

With a strong instructor to student ratio, we ensure every student receives the attention and guidance they need to thrive.
