Attendance to the BTC Basic Safeguarding Awareness course is a pre-requisite to this course.

BTC Registered Instructors in many clubs assume the role of a Welfare Officer, however the role can be held by an appropriately qualified or experienced volunteer, an adult (18yrs+) with relevant skills, knowledge, empathy and availability to fulfil the responsibilities.

This is an interactive course which provides clear guidance on legislation and best practice in the areas of:

• Creating a child-centred environment
• Position of Trust
• Roles and Responsibilities (NGB and external agencies)
• Internal and external reporting procedures

To book your place, please use the link below to pay the course fee and complete the form provided.  BTC Administration will share the online course log-in details in the week prior to the course.

Please note:  From 1 September 2026, the supervision exemption has been removed from the definition of regulated activity with children in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Individuals who teach, train, instruct, care for or supervise children on a regular basis may now be undertaking regulated activity whether supervised or not.  The role of a Club Welfare Officer is now classified as regulated activity and will require Enhanced DBS checks including Children's Barred Lists.
